A Fiancé visa, also known as a K-1 visa or I-129F Petition, is a contract an individual completes with the U.S. Government (USCIS) requesting temporary approval for his/her non-citizen fiancé to enter the United States to marry a U.S. citizen.
The approval process requires extensive investigation and documentation, which can take 12-15 months or longer. Once granted, the visa is valid for 90 days from the date the non-citizen enters the country. A fiancé visa is not ordinarily subject to the same criteria as other immigration processes.
